“Road Tested” is a term that may best describe Lou Maggio. As director of photography and product promotion for VENUS SWIMWEAR, the largest swimwear company in the U.S., Lou has traveled to some of the most exotic beaches of the world producing photo shoots and videos. In his seventeen years at Venus he saw the company grow from one with sales of $2 million to current sales in an excess of $130 million. On the road over a hundred days a year his career was the subject of episode feature on the nationally televised shows EXTRA and E! Entertainment.
A graduate of the University of South Florida (Mass Communications/Public Relations) Maggio spent 1981 as an intern in the PR Office of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After 17 years at VENUS, Maggio decided it was time to pursue his lifetime dream of producing motion pictures. Along with 5 friends (new and old) he helped put together RING Productions. In less than two year, the Florida-based production company was able to develop and produce two major motion pictures. The first, “The Year of Getting to Know Us”, stars Sharon Stone, Jimmy Fallon, Lucy Liu & Tom Arnold, premiered at the SUNDANCE Film Festival. The second, “The Six Wives of Henry Lefay”, features an all-star cast that includes Tim Allen, Elisha Cuthbert, Andie McDowell, Jenna Elfman, Paz Vega, S. Epatha Merkerson and Chris Klein. In 2009 he teamed up with Scott Lumpkin and his boyhood friend Jody Simon to form MAVEN FILMS. That year they hit the ground running as they Executive produced the Award winning documentary THESPIANS which has aired on SHOWTIME and Netflix’s. Currently developing and shopping 4 “Reality TV “ projects Maggio and MAVEN have two feature film scripts under option as well as a baseball documentary “COFFEE SHOP HEROES” in development.
